CHALLENGE
The location for this five-story office building in downtown Appleton did not allow much room for service trucks and heavy equipment needed to install windows and doors. At some point in the future, a skywalk was to be added to the front of the building. Special modifications to the façade were required.
UNIQUE ISSUES
-Construction guidelines in Appleton's downtown
-Safety considerations for pedestrian traffic
-90% of the building covered in glass
-Skywalk crosses main throughway
SOLUTION
Tri City Glass & Door managed the tight space limitations of the site using scissor and boom lifts. All guidelines were met and the project was completed without disturbing surrounding businesses. With pedestrian safety a main priority, an enclosed walkway was built to protect passersby and keep the sidewalk open. Tri City Glass & Door made sure all of the framing was in place to accommodate the planned skywalk which was competed at a later date. All established deadlines were met and the project was completed on time. The building is an attractive addition to downtown Appleton.
PRODUCTS USED
-Glass: Evergreen low-e, high-performance glass windows
-Framing: Clear anodized aluminum entrance doors and aluminum window frames
Fratello's Riverfront Restaurant

Click here for a project detail pdf brochure
CHALLENGE
This project was located at an abandoned hydro-electric power plant, built in 1907. The owner and architect wanted to maintain the basic structure, which featured extremely tall windows covering both lengths of the building. In addition, the interior space needed to be divided into two dining areas on two levels, while allowing both to have a view of the river on which the restaurant is situated.
UNIQUE ISSUES
-Non-standard structure
-Guest comfort
-Limited access for installation equipment
-Maintain nostalgic look of original structure
SOLUTION
Tri City Glass & Door accomplished the goal of maintaining the original structure with custom windows to fit the original spaces. A glass divider wall was installed to designate different dining areas but still allow for sweeping views of the Fox River. Energy-efficient windows were installed to reduce the effects of sun and extreme temperatures. These windows were installed using special equipment that allowed access to the impressive and historic waterfront site.
PRODUCTS USED
-Glass: Clear ½" tempered glass railings, wall partitions, and shelving with cable support system
-Framing: Bronze aluminum doors, window, glass shelving and partition frames
-Doors: Plane sliced Red Oak doors Plane sliced Maple doors Steel doors
-Specialty: Maple wood & glass wine storage enclosure, Colored acrylic accents for back-lit lighting
St Mary's Church

Click here for a project detail pdf brochure
CHALLENGE
The site for this new church was chosen for its superior view from atop a hill. However, due to location, wind became a factor that added challenges to the project. Multiple roof sections with several angles also added to the complexity.
UNIQUE ISSUES
-Extreme weather conditions
-Windows of unusual sizes and angles
-Majority of windows feature custom patterned shapes
-16 doors with unique configurations
SOLUTION
For this structure to be completed on time, Tri City Glass & Door put in the necessary hours (including weekends) to meet deadlines, even while windy days caused extra challenges. Special booms were used to lift windows over the steeply pitched roofs. Custom windows and doors were designed to fit exactly into the openings specified by the architect. Sixteen doors with unique configurations were all custom made. Working together, the team responsible for building this church created a breathtaking haven ideal for reflection and worship.
PRODUCTS USED
-Glass: Gray low-e insulated glass windows
-Framing: Bronze anodized aluminum window and door frames
-Doors: Pine Crest solid oak doors
-Hardware: Special hardware for high-traffic

-Non-standard structure
-Guest comfort
-Limited access for installation equipment

These windows were installed using special equipment that allowed access to the impressive and historic waterfront site.
